- Professor Wooster is a member of their Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee.

- Professor Miles is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Center.

- Professor Miles was elected to the National Academy during this past year.
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Professor Miles serves on the Advisory Panel for the Climate and Global Change Program; Professor Fluharty had until very recently been a member of the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council.
- Northwest Power Planning Council
- Professor Huppert chairs the Independent Economics Analysis Board of the Council.
- National Research Council, Ocean Studies Board
- Professor Huppert is a member of the committee to review plans for the restoration and protection of Louisiana's coastal wetlands.

- Professor Miller is a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors and Affiliate Professor Robert Goodwin is on their advisory committee
- Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary
- Professor Klinger is a member of the Sanctuary Advisory Council and its Research Advisory Committee.

- Professor Miller is an Associate Editor of Sage's very popular Qualitative Research Methods Series. He also serves as Commentary and Research Notes Editor for Tourism and the Marine Environment, from a different publisher.
- San Juan County Marine Resources Committee
- Professor Klinger is an advisor to the San Juans' MRC.
- U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy
- Professor Hershman is a member of the Commission; Professor Miles is a member of the Commission's Scientific Advisory Committee; SMA's Project on Ocean Governance has supported special events for the Commission including seminars, receptions, and technical papers.
- U.S. Department of Energy
- Until January, Professor Leschine directed the Public Policy Center of Expertise for CRESP (Consortium for Risk Evaluation with Stakeholder Participation), a university consortium conducting research on the cleanup and long-term management of nuclear waste sites.
- Worldwide Seagrass Monitoring Program
