SMAers Schmooze It Up
Nearly 60 students, alumni, faculty and staff came together on the evening of May 8th to eat, drink, see old friends, network and trade career advice. The SMA Schmooze Night began with a rousing game of SMA Bingo. Following that was an address from Director Marc Hershman on the year's successes and new developments at SMA. SMA alum Michael Jacobson then spoke on the importance of networking. Many alumni and students were able to make career connections at the Schmooze Night. Thanks to the Marine Affairs Alumni Club (MAAC) for co-sponsoring this event with SMA.
2003 Alumni Mentor Program
The SMA Alumni Mentor Program provides an opportunity for second year students and alumni to have a dialogue about career goals and expectations, internships and jobs, and the benefits and challenges of marine affairs professions. This year, three second year students were matched with three SMA alumni based on areas of mutual career interest. The students and their mentors met to discuss marine affairs issues, career planning and career contacts. Some students got a chance to attend meetings with their mentors and tour their workplace. Many thanks go out to the following alumni who served as mentors in 2003. Thank you Perry, Rick and Lisa!
