In case you have not heard yet - Professor Tom Leschine has received an appointment as a full professor and as the new Director of the School of Marine Affairs (SMA). His appointment was effective on July 16, 2003. Tom comes in to the leadership of SMA at a pivotal point in the School's history. I know with the support of the faculty, staff, students and alumni he will be able to bring SMA forward through the challenges facing the School and the College during this period of evolution and budget shortfalls in WA State. Please join me in wishing Tom a hearty welcome to his new position, and in thanking Marc for all his years of dedication and service (see below about his recognition fete).
