What's New At SMA
Party On, Marc
On the evening of May 31, students, alumni, faculty and staff came together to celebrate Professor Marc Hershman's 10 fine years as Director of SMA. The party took place at the Professor Vlad and Zdenka's Kaczynski's Mountlake Terrace "farmette." There was wonderful food contributed by the guests and Zdenka and her friends. There was even a mariachi band! Marc will continue as Professor at SMA. Kudos can be sent to Marc at hershmj@u.washington.edu.

SMA Travels To Korea
In April, 13 faculty and students from the University of Washington, led by SMA, spent a week in Incheon, Korea, presenting papers and discussing coastal and harbor issues in the region. They were joined by an equal number of faculty and students at Inha University, located in Incheon. This project was supported by NSF and Inha U., and led by Professor Dave Fluharty and Professor Y.T. Chang of the Inha faculty. The project will produce a symposium issue of the journal Korean Observor and the participants will be considering follow-up research and/or other collaborations and interactions. For more information, contact Dave at fluharty@u.washington.edu.
